Born in 1944, Katsuji Wakisaka graduated in design from the arts and crafts programme in Kyoto City Hiyoshigaoka High School. He worked in the textile design department at Itochu Corporation, after which he entered the Samejima Textile Design Studio in then moved to Finland in 1968. He has worked with Marimekko, Jack Lenor Larsen in New York and Wacoal Interior Fabrics. He has been a textile designer at SOU SOU since 2002.
